Walking, Traveling and Fun

8 juli 2017 - Sliema, Malta

It's been one hell of a day.

I got up at 6 in the morning in order to make the last preparations for my trip. My parents brought me to Eindhoven airport, but due to a collapsed parking garage they couldn't get out of the car for long themselves, so we stopped the car, waved goodbye and i was off to start my journey.

The journey was pretty calm, it all went according to plan. The flight was very relaxed, i was seated next to a maltese girl who was working on her essay about the differemt effects of cholestrol in butter and cheese, which was... An interesting topic, let's just keep it at that. The other seat next to me was ampty, so i had some extra room. Meanwhile, i was reading one of my books the entire time, whilst trying to ignore all the advertisements from the flight crew who wanted us to buy all kinds of junk.

A cab driver picked me up at the airport in Malta, i shared the cad with another dutch girl, who's been to malta before for several weeks and she gave me lots of tips and information about the island, which was very usefull.

I arrived at my host family, which will be my base of operations for 2.5 weeks, at 14:00. The owner, called Mr. Teribile is a very nice man. He is about 75 years old and very short, but he is very kind and he loves history, he used to be a teacher at a maltese university, i have already learned a lot about the Maltese history today.

The house is extremely large amd full of decorations, it is beautyful. I have to share my room with 4 othe guys ( it's a large room so we have plenty os space) i will try to describe them as best as i can:
First of all we have Marco, he is... Special... He is 13 years old and he is from italy, and he was semt to Malta to follow an english course. But Marco hasn't done a single thing in school since he arrived 1 week ago, he's been wasting all his money on funfair attractions and does nothing but laying in his bed whilst playing with his phone all day. He can't speak a single word in english.

Next up is Serhat, he is in the mid twenties and he is from arabic origin. He is a nice guy.

The 3rd roommate is a 17 year old guy from the czech republic, we talked a lot about all kinds of things today, he's cool.

And finally, a 15 year old kid from France, he doesn't really say a lot...

I've been chilling together with the others in our room untill 18:00, when i went to get some dinner, whilst eating i met 2 awesome guys from France, called Romain and Simon, we discussed quite a few topics together, and half of them in french (a good way to practise another language).

I went for a walk around 20:00 through Sliema, the town in which i am staying, it's a very beautyfull yet small city, it's difficult to get lost becsuse you can almost always see a sea. The city looks beautyful, there are lots of great buildings and sights, i'll try to add some pictures. I also bought some ice cream on the way back, it was delicious.

Now it's almost 23:00 and i am nearly done with my blog for today, it took me about 30 minutes to make this because i have to use my phone to type this.

Tomorrow i'll have a day off, so i can take it easy and discover the island a bit more, i'll write again tomorrow.
